Monsters Menagerie Opens October, Friday the 13th! (Not for the Triskaidekaphobic)
Exhibit: October 13 through November 3; Viewing: Tue - Fri, 12 - 6pm, free

Artists’ Opening Reception: Friday, Oct 13, 8 pm. Free entertainment and refreshments.
Alwun House, 1204 E. Roosevelt St, Phoenix AZ, 602-253-7887, www.alwunhouse.org

Alwun House 7th annual “Monsters Menagerie” exhibit gives serious Valley art lovers and sinister hipsters a thrilling range of monster/devilish artworks in a variety of media; from raw-edged political sarcasm, extraordinary and supernatural spirits, to surreal and fantasy art (like a smokin’ 9-foot dinosaur). From affordable paper mache sculptures to reasonably priced contemporary Halloween images in a variety of media. This is ART! Not for the Walgreen kitsch crowd.

In the spirit of this holiday, Alwun’s annual Halloween art show and Costume Ball Oct 28th, exorcizes evil influences around us: Some in a humorous and witty way, others not so funny; like juxtaposing world hunger with “it’s hot” Paris Hilton.

The legendary Alwun historic 1912, 2-story bungalow on Roosevelt Row, is the perfect “haunted” setting for a leisure stroll through this extremely spirited exhibit with creaky wooden floors, and real ghosts. Daytime guests are invited to have a complimentary jolt of java lounge around the outdoor fountains and surrounding garden nooks and crannies in full fall bloom.

Participating artists: Joi Carey aka Agony Bliss, Baron Dixon, Landy Headley, Mike Maas, Mantis, Larry LoPresti, Gillian Payne, Bob Price, Stephanie Ringler, Mel Rose, and Verisecha Williams, as well as some surprise artists.
